The Byrds are headed NORTE for the summer.

So after about 5 months here in beautiful Samara, Costa Rica we’ve decided to say Adios and fly the coup and head for home, the looonnnggg (Central American dusty & bumpy) way.

We haven’t yet come up with a name for our RECREATIONAL VEHICLE… its NOT a van!  but when we do we’ll post pictures of the christening and baptism. Let us know your thoughts and ideas!!! Here are the photos of our home/wheels we have as of now.
A couple of things needed to happen before buying the RV. We spent countless hours on the internet researching paper work required to cross all borders headed north.  Is this even possible???? Crossing into different countries with only a bill of sale and a signed title. Lots of questions and really no answers, three lawyers, a trip up to the Aduana in Liberia and we are now the legal proud owners of this beast. The Aduana is basically the office near the international airport that handles all immigration documents for cargo and other items shipped into Costa Rica via Liberia. Thankfully the lady at the office spoke English because trying to describe this situation was way above all three (Casey, Megan and the German guy we were buying it from) of our Spanish speaking levels. The lawyer we had met with earlier that morning had said she wouldn’t do the contract first without the permit from the immigration office stating that we could make the transaction, basically a document like a bill of sale. So originally when we got to the Aduana we knew that we were going to have to hook up with a lawyer anyways, she said to complete the paperwork she needed the original contract first before completing the immigration paperwork. We were all surprised and asked her if she knew of any good lawyers in Liberia, just so happened she did. We got lost trying to find him in his home office, but finally we found it and I think we were all a little sketched out and hoping that we weren't’ about to get taken to the cleaners.

Head down this alley “My office is on the corner.” Are you kidding me?????? With a quick contract document and some fumbling Spanish we headed back to the Aduana to get this thing made official. Everything went smooth until the poor lady tried to print out the new immigration form…..35 minutes and a fax machine and both an old printer and a new super high tech printer the document was finally in our hands. We just so happened to have a Loveland bumper sticker handy for the perfect occasion... and this is it  REPRESENT!!!

Working on route north stay tuned for all the details.
Much Love
