Samara Animal Experiences

Not only have we had several run ins with random un manned horses roaming the streets here, the street dogs, stray gatos, ants, spiders, iguanas and geckos have become part of our daily routine. Knowing we're in a jungle es climate we realize that the insects probably would be muchas grandes compared to what we are used to in the great state of Colorado, but no one had mentally prepared us for what we had in store yesterday.

The biggest spider either of us have ever seen and it was chillin like nothing on our back patio. So as a man yes I'm supposed to be strong in these situation, but what the hell was I to do with this spider that was literally the size of a small child. Maybe a slight jump and a quick WTH, however I managed to keep my composer enough to move some things around and just leave that massive thing alone. I ask how do you even kill a spider that big? My next big purchase from the hardware store is going to be a machete maybe that will to the trick. So after the nerves calmed down and the random paranoid itching sensation went away we carried on with our day only to find this at the base of a palm tree just off the back patio.

One big ass dead iguana please. Rigamortous had taken over and the heat had blown it up like a balloon. Much like the spider we found ourselves wondering what to do with a two foot long dead iguana. Lucky we're not hungry enough yet to try and create a meal out of it however a long stick and black trash bag seemed like a good idea.

Dead iquana baged and packaged deliever to the area trash pick up site which is steps outside our gate.

Oh wait did some hear a Costa Rican volcher? Yes within minutes the bag had been drug into the middle of the street and the damn birds had the carcus out in pieces in the street. PERFECT now what? Well thankfully tomorrow is trash day so we can just move the nasty bag to the pile of trash to be picked up and worry no more right? Check out the horse from tonight, I need to let this thing into the yard to keep our rain forest grass looking tight.
   Until tomorrow???

Language School Tomorrow

Casey-> Super excited to start school tomorrow!!! The hardest part about being down here is that we can't have a conversation with really anyone, should have paid more attention in high school. Check out the school here http://www.samaralanguageschool.com/
Along with spanish classes they offer salsa dancing classes which Megan can really use...whooh whooh I(Megan) just read this and excuse me, I had said that I could teach it not use new moves, cooking classes, yoga and organize various volunteer  projects around town.

Megan-> So earlier today I was getting pretty annoyed with the insects (ants, mosquitos, fleas?, and everything else that flies and crawls) that have been in our house, so I started researching natural remedies that were cheap and things that I could find at the grocery store.   So I have figured out that we have to e
at the shit out of garlic to the point where is starts seeping out our pores and VINAGAR.  There are several websites that have mentioned vinagar as a repellent to almost everything.  So I took notes, went to the store bought it and a mop and I am now prepared to clean this motha out!  I also thought it was interesting that they mentioned cucumbers and coffee grounds for bugs so we are going to try it all. I also researched how to keep beach fleas off dogs and it gave some helpful advise... boil water and a lemon with the peel on and scored let it cool and sit over night then bath them in it.... great idea until I went to the store and found NO lemons!  There were other websites that said we could put a touch of VINAGAR in their drinking water and that will kill fleas??? I have never heard that before has anyone else?  Shelby didn't mind the water but picky Anakin is a bit hesitant with it.  If anyone else has remedies for bugs I would LOVE to hear them and I think others could benefit as well so please share!  Other than that it has been a really great week, can you believe we have been here a whole week already??? WOW.  I am sure we will have more to write tomorrow after language school.  Til Then.....
