Second stop on our border run San Juan del Sur. As it was clearly stated in the travel books this once quiet little fishing village is now a nesting ground for backpackers/surfers looking to party until the wee hours or the night. Yes it was beautiful but we found ourselves on a number of occasions saying “ We feel like we’re in a spring break hot spot for college students.” It was refreshing after two nights in Granada to see the ocean again, but after two night in San Juan we cut the trip short and made the journey back to Samara. It was great to see new places and surf some new waves!

BORDER RUN
Samara--> Nicoya--> Liberia--> Penas Blanco--> Shady border crossing--> Rivas--> Granda
Nicaragua at its best... A different county entirely than what we are used to here in Costa Rica. A bit nervous traveling out of our little paradise we made it through five days and two borders crossing in one piece. After arriving about four hours late, mechanical issues with the bus, we were dropped on a busy corner in the middle of Granada. "Great it is night time in a busy city and we have no idea where we are... TAXI!!" 21 cordobas later we made it to Hospedaje La Siesta. We spent the next day wondering around Granada, which is a surprisingly beautiful place with loads of sweet architecture, bright colors and some great restaurants. Two nights and one full day in the city was enough so we decided to head down to San Juan del Sur for a couple days.
We are trying a new deal with the photos in the form of a slide show so hopefully they all come up. Very random pictures in here... We slipped into a thrift store and found some three times over hand me downs like an Alabama hat and a Broncos super bowl hat which we're not even sure if they won that one. The biggest loss while in Granada was Casey's flip flop which was a perfectly timed blow out while walking down the outdoor market, not a good place to be bare foot.
